The mountains in Scotland over 3,000 feet (914.4 metres) in height are called the Munros.  Named after Hugh Munro, who was the first person to compile a list of them in 1891.  Originally there were 283 Munros. The list has grown and shrunk over the years – currently totaling at 282 Munros.

Below you’ll find a list of all the munros in Scotland, broken down by region and group.

FAQs

How do I know which walk is right for me?

We’ll get some more details on the best munros soon. But for now, choose one or a group that is nearby and give it a go!

Do I need to be really fit to do all these hikes?

It depends on the walk. The tougher munros and routes can be quite draining and require good endurance levels. If you’re starting out, test yourself on some of the easier one first.

Do I need special clothing or gear to do these hikes?

Definitely get the essentials for any of the walks – good footwear, clothing, map, compass, etc.. And make sure you know how to use the gear!
